Social and Emotional Supports
Special Education Technicians
Working with a multidisciplinary team to apply special education techniques and methods, Special Education Technicians help to support students with individualized education plans, social maladjustments, learning difficulties, or behavioral challenges.
Transition Room Teacher
The Transition Room Teacher helps support students with behavioral difficulties. They help to regulate the students and transition them into their classes.
Awé:ri Room Teacher
The Awé:ri Room Teacher helps promote social skills and self-regulation techniques.
Social Counsellor
Social Counsellors listen to students’ concerns about academic, emotional or social problems. They help students process their problems and plan goals and actions.
Mental Health Counsellor
The Mental Health Counsellor helps treat mental health conditions and other sources of distress, such as relationship problems or bereavement.
Student Mentorship Coach
The Student Mentorship Coach shares experiences, guidance and information through mentorship conversations to mediate conflicts between students, as well as address conflicts within families, all while promoting cultural teachings.
Art Therapist
The Art Therapist provides weekly sessions that use creative tools and mediums, like sculpting, painting, drawing and collages, with the aim of promoting emotional, creative and spiritual growth for their clients. They use guided exercises to help clients express themselves through art. Art therapists work with a wide range of patients who have a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, past trauma, PTSD, phobias and behavioral disorders.
Psychotherapist
A psychotherapist is a mental health professional who treats a broad range of serious emotional issues, including past trauma, mental illness, and chronic problems. The goal is to help people understand their patterns of thinking and behavior, and develop the skills to manage stress and improve relationships
Educational Supports
Resource Teachers
Resource Teachers provide educational services in both one on one and general education settings to students who require specialized instruction and support. They create and update individualized education plans for students and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support students to close the gaps in their learning.
Collaboration with KSCS
We work in collaboration with the KSCS prevention team to support students in learning and discussing important topics such as respect, healthy friendships, safety, etc.
Developmental Supports
Speech Therapist
A speech therapist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. They set goals and provide strategies for students and families to use to support growth and development of speech and articulation.
Occupational Therapist
After assessing a client’s condition, the Occupational Therapist will develop treatment plans using exercise, movements to develop muscle memory, sensory feedback and practice performing the tasks they perform at work and home. They provide individualized strategies to help students attain their goals.
